we've had quite an exciting few weeks trying new foods! i went ahead and made the super porridge as instructed in the book- blending the rice first- and surprisingly it worked beautifully, and my blender didn't mind at all! it's sooo much smoother than blending afterward and ethan is really enjoying it. i've made several batches now, including one with millet and one with a mix of rice and millet (oatmeal next :)), then i've been adding tofu, fruit/veggies, tahini, (and even brewer's yeast as super food lady suggests) - one or more at a time in various combinations- and ethan has been a champ- seeming to love all the healthy goodies so far. another favorite is yogurt. i buy the organic whole milk plain kind to avoid sugar and ethan just loves it- sometimes i mix in fruit- but i try to give him plenty of "bland" experiences as well so that he doesn't get used to everything being sweet and tasty. the "earth's best" teething biscuits, though he loves them, i fear, so i don't use regularly. we have tried frozen and regular bagels, and so far, so good- although i just read that it may be better to avoid wheat the first year? ethan eats many many many cheerios every day- he ADORES them and they keep him busy while i get his meals ready. he also loves to pick at little tofu chunks, suck on grapes through the net thing and gum my apples.
so while ethan eats well, he doesn't drink too much water- just a sip here and there- what are you all finding? also, the nursing has gone WAY down. how much formula/breast milk is everybody drinking these days?
we would love to see all of you- storytime and dessert thurs? or maybe we can try the watertown family network? just a big space with lots of new toys... |

just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone as it feels like it's been forever! we miss you! we've been so busy with different family visiting and holiday shopping and poor ethan hasn't been feeling well- teething i think- WAY off- fever- fussy- NO sleeping- it's been pretty difficult this past week. doc. thought he may have a urinary infection and had to use a cathater (SP?) to collect a sample- OUCH!!! it was HORRIBLE- and turned out to be negative. then we noticed that his crawling has become funny- he's using his left foot and right knee to move, making for a strange and awkward "crawl". specialist says he's fine, i think it's weird.... anyway, we hope you are all well. jenn- we hope your party went well, sorry again to have missed it. we leave for n.y. on thursday and hope to see you all when we get back after the holidays. merry christmas, happy chanukkah and happy holidays to all! |
